2024 Wrapped: The Slow Approach Magazine Stats

We have worked with over 70 creatives directly.

Hosting or assisting with photo shoots directly is something we try to do as often as possible at The Slow Approach, as well as of course the submissions we take from those further afield.

Photographer: Tobie Charton, In frame: Lucy and Su from Salt and Pepper Models, MUA Greici Rosa, BTS Photographer Ellie Kenney and Director Poppy Oakey.

We set a record of hosting 4 photo shoots in one single day.

Being from a rural community in Wiltshire, I find it harder to network with those nearby as well, the population is thin and spread out! I know that I am not the only business owner/ self employed person who feels this way. Hosting a long studio day was something I wanted to do from the get go but obviously takes a lot of time and organisation. With the help of Vicky and Ellie (more about them later!) who worked for The Slow Approach over the Summer, we held 4 photo shoots consecutively at River North Studios in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. We brought together many creatives from the local area, as well as those from cities such as Bristol and Bath, to the studio to create for the Second Edition as well as network, create social content and just enjoy the day.

Photographer: Zara Williams, Model: Lily, Nails: Wheels Nails, Flowers: Heart of BS13 Flowers, Fashion: Subversive Threads, Cat Rose O’Brien, Daines Atelier.

We had a wonderful 5 women work on the magazine.

Including myself, we had 5 women work on aspects of the Second Edition and on socials over the Summer!

Victoria Hussey joined before the Second Edition and helped with comms, research, editing and project management alongside other various tasks that she threw herself into. Vicky’s shining moment was the studio day. Vicky assisted all day with the models and photographers and gave great creative input throughout.

Ellie Kenny, a photographer who featured in the First Edition, joined the team this Summer too with Vicky to help with digital marketing. Ellie also took the lead in one of my favourite shoots of the Second Edition, organising and shooting alongside Kaya Oatley.

Photographer: Ellie Kenney, Models: Kim and Jele, Second Photographer: Kaya Oatley, Stylist: Poppy Oakey, Fashion: Isabelle Pennington Edmead.

This Summer we were also joined by two brilliant work experience students: Liz and Biba. Throughout the week they assisted me on a range of creative and digital tasks for the magazine directly and some fun, skill building activities to compliment!

The Second Edition sold out online in a record 10 days.

Due to phenomenal demand, we sold out of the Second Edition online within 10 days! Nothing else to say for this one aside from a massive thank you.

We brought 0 packaging boxes new.

Thanks to our friends at Hamlin and Hive and through other means, all of our boxes that we shipped our magazines in were perfectly usable second hand.

All of our printing was done within 30 miles of office.

Keeping things local, from our events posters to the magazines themselves were printed within Wiltshire and within a 30 mile radius. Supporting local and keeping the mileage down!

Thank you for joining us along for the journey this year! Keep up to date on what is to come in 2025 by keeping an eye on our blog, subscribing to our newsletter and following us on Instagram.
